Hart County has a very strong agriculture and horticulture base. The absence of an Ag and Natural resources agent in the county has presented challenges for Extension staff and producers during this vacancy. The current staff does an excellent job ensuring that the needs of growers and homeowners are met. The ANR agents in Barren and Metcalfe County have assisted them and will continue to lend support in order provide agriculture information to the people of Hart County.
Throughout this challenging time the Extension agents in the 3 counties have partnered to provide technical assistance and educational opportunities to producers and homeowners in Hart County. Agents have fielded many phone calls, made farm visits, and have reviewed and made soil test and other production recommendations on a daily basis. Multiple BQCA, Private Pesticide Applicator trainings and other educational sessions have been presented in order for producers and homeowners to be able to access information that they need to ensure the further success of their operations.
The Agents in Barren, Hart, and Metcalfe County have worked as a team to make sure needs are met. Even during unprecedented times, this multi county effort has afforded the opportunity for residents of Hart county to continue to benefit from the services offered by the Cooperative Extension Service.
