Outcome: Initial Outcome

Extension Homemakers work to improve the quality of life for their families and communities through leadership development, volunteer service and education.  Gallatin County Extension Homemakers are active and involved with the Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association at the Northern Kentucky Area and State level.  Gallatin County Extension Homemakers give back to our community.  One way is through the Gallatin County Extension Homemaker Scholarship that gives a $1,000 annual scholarship to a local Gallatin County High School graduating senior.

In 2020, Gallatin County Homemakers made a quick adjustment due to COVID-19 to be Healthy at Home.   Members received educational materials and Healthy at Home monthly calendars with challenges on how to be healthy at home.   Daily challenges were to improve Homemakers strength, aerobic, and flexibility/self-care.  Extension Homemakers reported that they particularly like the challenges that gave them a thoughtful challenge for the day, such as calling to check on a friend or the gentle reminder to put the cell phone down and go for a walk.  In addition to the calendar and educational materials mailed Extension Homemakers participated in virtual KEHA programming such as “What’s the BUZZ about Honey”, and “Urine not Alone”.
