A meeting was scheduled and held with Coordinator Ms. Melissa Escobar to assist with her needs and discuss programs available through 4-H. Both parties decided that robotics would be the most engaging program for the students at Cane Run Elementary.
Cane Run Elementary is a federal Title 1 school for grades K-5 with a total enrollment of 361 students. 90.3 %(326) of students are considered economically disadvantaged, 79.8% of students are African American, 5.5% Hispanic and 9.4% White. and over 79% students score below average on state and national assessment test.

Due to COVID restrictions in place a curbside drop/off delivery was scheduled between Coordinator and 4-H Agent. Kits were delivered and distributed to 10 Students via School Coordinator. Agent began virtual programming with Students on June 13th and continued for 8 Weeks.
Students were engaged virtually via Google Classroom 1 time per week for 1 hour. Students learned basic coding using colors and symbols. Students learned how to program robots using Ozobockly online portal. Students were able to engage and show their progress via screen and uploading videos using online portal. A poll was completed at the end of the program and students expressed that they learned how to program robot, they learned the basis of programming and that they had fun!!
