Due to closures during the pandemic, the Jabez Quilt Seminar was cancelled in January 2020 and 2021. The advisory council of 6 volunteers and 3 agents planned a day of tips and techniques by zoom on one of the days that the conference would have been held. 8 separate workshop sessions were taught by teachers and agents. 62 people attended the online sessions.
The Rockcastle County FCS agent taught a session on the Jabez Quilt Seminar quilt design challenge that is being sponsored by the quilt conference for the 2022 event. During the session, participants learned the rules of the challenge, and how to request that the challenge fabric (that must be used in the design of the quilt) and how to request the quilts to show in there counties. All 57 of those who filled out the online evaluation requested the challenge fabric to be sent to them. A total of 152 JQS participants were mailed a piece of the challenge fabric (18" X 22") for use in designing their entry to the challenge.
An evaluation of the day’s activities was done online by qualtrics by 57 of the participants. 90% of the participants evaluated said that they had learned at least one new technique that they would use in future quilts. 85% of those evaluated related that they will definitely or probably attend the 2022 Jabez Quilt Seminar when it is offered as an in-person event.
