Planning Unit: Daviess County CES

Major Program: Active Living and Health Promotions General

Plan of Work: Healthy Lifestyles

Outcome: Initial Outcome

We are over a year into the COVID-19 pandemic and we have reached 520 adults and 580 children through our Grab and Go Kits. Since we were still not able to have in-person programs, we continued the Grab and Go Kits, picking up more partnerships. All Extension Program areas have contributed to some kits, as well as our Daviess County Diabetes Coalition, Healthy Head to Toe health Coalition Sub-committee, Owensboro Health Healthpark and the Green River District Health Department. The kits were given away at the Daviess County Extension Office and posted on the Daviess County Extension, Daviess County Nutrition Education Program, and Daviess County Diabetes Coalition Facebook pages as well as many shares on personal Facebook pages.

We initially gave out twenty-five to thirty Grab and Go kits every week at the beginning of the Pandemic (April thru June 2020) then going to every two weeks giving out twenty-five to thirty kits July thru November 2020. Beginning in December of 2020 and continuing thru March 2021, we are giving out thirty kits once a month. The Grab and Go Kits that the Daviess County Diabetes Coalition, Green River District Health Department and Owensboro Health Healthpark collaborated on, 100 kits were given out each time, which was in November of 2020 and March of 2021. The Grab and Go Kits with the partnerships will continue further into 2021, with of hopes more in-person programming later in the year.
