The April lesson for the Pennyrile Area Homemakers was Annual Flowers Made Easy. The lesson was taught as a hybrid with some homemakers and guests attending virtually while others attended in person. Twenty Five participants and FCS Agents from Caldwell, Todd, and Trigg  attended the program. They learned specific characteristics about annual flowers such as sun versus shade preference, plant height, and different uses such as border plantings, edging, and cut flowers. Nineteen of the program participants completed the survey either via Qualtrics or in person immediately after the program. All nineteen of those completing the survey said that they grew annual flowers before the program and all indicated that they would grow annual flowers after the program. Only eight of the survey participants used the annual flowers that they grew for cut flower arrangements prior to attending the program. Fourteen of the participants said that they would use the annual flowers that they grow for cut flower arrangements after attending the program. When asked to select the annual flower characteristics that they learned during the program that would help them with flower selection, only eight of the participants said flower color would help them. Plant height, needs full sun, and needs partial shade were chosen as the primary things that the program participants learned about selecting annual flowers with the response number being 15,15,and 16 respectively. One program participant said " Lots of good info on the call! I will be growing several of the plants you talked about."  The College of Agriculture Food and Environment Cooperative Extension Service is utilized by residents of the commonwealth to provide educational information on a multitude of topics... including selecting annual flowers.
