Homemaker Holiday Bazaar

Planning Unit: Montgomery County CES

Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Plan of Work: Family Resource Management

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Montgomery County Extension Homemakers have a long history of supporting and serving the individuals and families of Montgomery County through their fundraising efforts.  In an effort to continue their service to the community, the Montgomery County Extension Homemakers with the help of the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service, planned an annual Holiday Bazaar. Three Homemaker clubs produced their own products to sell during the 4 hour event.   Homemakers sold anything from candy, to scarves, to canned items.  A variety of entertainment and lunch was offered to increase attendance.  Over 200 people attended the 2017 Holiday Bazaar held at the Extension Education Center.  In addition to buying handmade goods, attendees could purchase chances on crochet blanket made by another Extension group.  Money raised from the event went to patients fighting cancer who reside in Montgomery County. The money made from the one-day event will allow homemakers to continue giving back to Montgomery County.  This Bazaar also helped increase community and economic development and provided the opportunity to empower community and extension leaders.
