In these times of Covid, any in person grower meetings have ground to a halt. The need is still there to get the information out and Zoom is a useful tool for some clientele. Unfortunately, much of the older grain crop producers in the state are not zoom literate and have no plans to be. In order to help FSA with grower education for the 2021 Farm Bill Sign Up, this agent developed a one page educational sheet that our local FSA could hand to growers or landowners that explained the current decision they needed to make and gave examples with different price scenarios to help them make the correct decision.
Growers will not know if they made the correct decision until the end of the 2021 Marketing Year in September of 2022. That is what makes the decision so difficult is projecting prices that far in the future. The Ballard County FSA office reported almost 100% eligible farm numbers signed up by the March 15, 2021 deadline.
