In 2021, the election for the Farm Bill became a yearly decision. FSA had a deadline of March 15 for farmers to sign up the 2021 crop year. This agent along with help from Dr. Greg Halich from Ag Economics used information from Kansas State University , University of Illinois and Texas A&M to develop a PowerPoint presentation to train Kentucky agents to help FSA with grower education.
Due to the unprecedented rise in commodity prices through the harvest season, the decision farmers needed to make for Corn, Wheat and Soybeans is likely to have changed for this year from previous crop years. To get this word out, this agent used help from the Ky Soybean Association staff members Becky Kinder and Rae Waggoner to make a Zoom presentation of the Farm Bill Power Point. This was then hosted on the Ky Soybean Association with a link sent to all Ky Ag Agents. Links were also provided to the Ky Corn Growers and Ky Small Grain Growers for use on their websites. To date the video had been viewed 226 times and emails of thanks and questions have come in from growers all across the state.
