A committee chai for the 2020 KACAA state conference in-service training this ANR agent collaborated with other agents and University of Kentucky Extension Specialists to host a panel discussion about University of Kentucky soil fertility recommendations. Extension ANR and Horticulture agents sometimes get confused with ag industry recommendations versus UK’s. Clientele are bombarded with propaganda with convincing evidence on adding certain products to their fertilizer for yield boost and increased plana health. Extension agents have a hard time sorting through all the outside information especially when the university ha little o no information to solidify a company’s claims. The intent of the in-service was to give agents a better understand of most of those products being recommended by ag companies. Also, current research and the soil testing program and updated software was discussed. This ANR agent set up, hosted, and moderated the 1.5 hour zoom training. Over 60 ANR and Hort agents attended. Multiple questions were asked. This ANR agent organized all questions asked and uploaded them into TEAM where specialist could answer any or all question over the next few weeks. Agents then could review the questions and answers at their leisure. This format worked well, and all evaluations indicated agents gained helpful knowledge from the training.
