In 2017 Nikki Rhein, Marshall County Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, started a yearly introduction to beekeeping class. Due to the size and quantity of the handout materials for the course, Nikki created a webpage. The webpage allowed her to share the bulky information with the participants and other clientele who visit the Marshall County Webpage.
Three years later, Nikki still keeps up with the page in hopes that clientele will enjoy the materials gathered there. On February 5th, Nikki received an email from a client whose 5th grade daughter, Sarah, was assigned a writing assignment on the topic of pollinators for her science class. While struggling to find research for her project, her daughter stumbled across the Marshall County Extension Beekeeping webpage. Here is what the client shared with Nikki, "I wanted to reach out to thank you because this page led Sarah to some great findings for her project and I am so glad that we found it! She had actually decided to dedicate a section of her paper to bee-keeping after finding your page."
In an effort to continue meeting the needs of her beekeeping clientele, Nikki plans to continue maintaining and updating the webpage, as well as starting a county wide beekeepers club that meets once a month starting in April of 2021.
