In November 2020, Carlisle County FCS Extension provided "Building Strong Families" informational packets to the 40 families applying for the Christmas Assistance Program through the county school. Applicants were required to complete the family related activities and materials to qualify. Of the participants, 100% completed the materials, noting positive changes in family engagement:
90% plan to engage in 2-3 family meals per week
36/40 learned a significant difference between a Consequence vs Punishment
100% learned age appropriate chores/tasks for children to participate and at least 3 new active ways to have fun with their child
80% claim that with what they learned from the program, they were now able to identify their family's unique set of strengths.
One participant stated "The information provided was helpful and beneficial. I will do more research on having a family action plan and our family's strengths ongoing."
