What first started as a regular monthly 4-H Boredom Buster Kit activity to keep 4-H members engaged during COVID, turned into a county wide 4-H service project benefiting many families in Allen County.
Novembers Boredom Buster Activity Kit encouraged youth to turn their fleece into no-sew blankets and return these completed blankets to be donated to Allen County Scottsville School’s Together for Christmas Gift Drive. Not only did our youth learn and apply a new skills, but they were immediately able to put their blankets to use by donating warm fleece blankets to families in need.
The Together for Christmas Toy Drive is a community wide event that encourages new toy and gift donations, which are collected at our schools and then available for families in need to give as Christmas gift to their own children. Not only did Allen County 4-Her’s go above and beyond to donate 16 hand-made blankets, but they also rose to the challenge to donate other additional Christmas gifts to the community toy drive. Other gifts included but were not limited to sports, toys, hair care items and more!
As a result of this Allen County 4-H service project, our youth put their hearts and hands to service while providing new blankets to 16 children and another 20 gifts for youth in their community to warm and brighten their Christmas.
