#strongertogetherlincoln Program: COVID-19 Vaccines

Author: Rita Stewart

Planning Unit: Lincoln County CES

Major Program: Community Engagement

Plan of Work: Leadership Development & Volunteerism 2020-24

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Members of the Leading Healthy Community Connections Leadership group, initiated the #strongertogetherlincoln program as their leadership project in April 2020.  Members meet twice a month to plan educational programs related to Mental Health during COVID.  Members identify topics, promote the programs, and evaluate the programs.  Members of this leadership group are continuing to make a positive difference in the health of people in their community.  Members suggested a program on the COVID-19 vaccines and identified our Health Department Director to be the guest speaker.  This Extension Agent scheduled the date and time with our Health Department Director and set up the meeting for January 2021.  The program was offered via Zoom and Facebook Live.  We had 30 people on Zoom and 30 on Facebook Live.  Several people called in questions before the program, while others asked questions during the program.  This program provided much needed answers related to getting an appointment, where to get the vaccine, effectiveness of the available vaccines, who is eligible to get the vaccine first, and many other questions.  The program was timely, relevant, and provided many highly sought out answers to people's questions.  A recording of the program is also available on our Facebook page for those who were not able to join us.  This program provided an opportunity for our Health Department Director and people in our community to have a positive conversation about the COVID-19 vaccines.
