The COVID-19 Pandemic may have closed our doors temporarily and changed our way of doing programs, but has also opened some new doors to different clientele.
A partnership between the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service and the Daviess County Public Library has led to monthly programs provided by the Family and Consumer Sciences and Horticulture Extension Agents and SNAP assistant, live on the Daviess County Public Library Facebook page and shared to the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Facebook page.
The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent provided programs on Food Preservation in September, Budgeting in November and Sensational Salads in January. The participation has been successful with 5-10 people actively participating during the live program and over 400 views of the videos following the live session. Following the food preservation session, we mailed out food preservation publications in our county and to Indiana along with several calls, all from individuals watching the program online.
These programs have allowed us to reach clientele when it was convenient for them. The partnership with the library has helped us reach a different group of clientele as well. Feedback has been positive and we continue to provide monthly programs.
