In 2017-2018,  support and technology interest has enabled a variety of Calloway County 4-H Robotics endeavors.  Two thousand five hundred dollars from United Way and eleven thousand dollars from the Area Technology Center Board gave the First Robotics Competition Team the start up money needed for their season.  The Robo-Racers will also have a location within the Area Technology Center where they can meet and practice.  This is an exciting time as all the competition teams are readying their robots for upcoming competition.  The First Tech Challenge Team the SPARC Robotics Team has also worked hard to fund and plan for their season.  They have attended two scrimmages and plan to compete in another scrimmage and a qualifying event in Bedford, Indiana in January.  The RCX Group has worked diligently to prepare for their competition in March.  They are learning about the human body and their challenge is to see how the body works and build items that will help the process.  Youth from each of these teams are finding ways to give to our community and work collaboratively.  The volunteer leaders of all the teams have met together to plan and create a continuum of  effort.  Collectively, they decided how the United Way monies would be spent to assist and impact the largest groups of youth and most effectively meet needs.  The Steering Committee chose to buy a competition floor for the First Tech Challenge Group and invest in more Lego League Educational Kits.   Their interest in growing the robotic interest and  develop youth with robotics will change our community for the better..  

Another new undertaking of the Calloway County 4-H Program is a new Cloverbot Club.  Seventeen youth 5 to 8 have come to work and learn monthly with the We-Do #1 materials that we were able to borrow from Murray State KATE Program.  The coach was able to utilize sixteen kits which enables the club to work with 16 to 25 youth to design build and program robots that will meet a need.
