Plan of Work: Environmental Education
Outcome: Initial Outcome
During a trying time, due to COVID-19 we have not been able to conduct normal programing in the school system. At the same time, we have unfortunately not met with the 4-H Homeschool Club due to the volunteer resining. Understanding the importance of reaching as many different audiences with our programs we looked at other ways to be valuable to our homeschool community. We were approached by a local homeschool coop group that was looking to fill a void in their program by adding hands on science lessons. We worked out how to fill the void by still maintaining the current COVID-19 guidelines and settled on a plan that would work for both groups. 4-H programs are conducted in person at their lesson location on Mondays with a group of eleven youth. Each lesson focuses on Natural Resources, and Science for about 45 minutes to an hour. Lessons have been well received by the youth, and parents have reported that their children have enjoyed and retained the information. Lessons will continue for the current program year with the one age group with the hope that we can expand into the older groups. The older groups would give us the opportunity to increases our teen program and attendance to state level leadership events.
