Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Volunteers have a positive impact where they live and work. They make communities stronger, connect communities to each other, improve community health and increase overall civic involvement. The value of 4-H volunteers extends far beyond the scope of youth development into every part of their community. (UMN Extension Volunteer Survey)
Kenton County is always looking for ways to get our 4-H Volunteers Leaders more involved in our community, however with the Cov-19 Pandemic this has changed how our volunteers can make that difference.. September 2019 our Kenton County 4-H Council had their first Farm to Dinner Fundraiser for 4-H that was designed to showcase our local and Kentucky Farms and raise money for our council.
Due to Cov-19 4-H Council was unable to have their 2nd annual dinner as planned. 4-H Council members still wanted to do something to showcase our farmers and raise money for our 4-H Council.
Working with a grant from The Department of Agriculture, our local Farmer's, and other KY Proud Farms in Kentucky we put together a Farm to Table Dinner Box. Using the Marketing tool Constant Contact personal Invitations were sent out to the public. Working with our Farms we had around 100 boxes they could fill with eggs, cheese, sausage etc. The 4-H Farm to Table Box sold out in one day.
Working together4-H Agents, 4-H Council and Volunteers packed 110 boxes with prepackaged items from local farms and a few KY Proud Farms. Each box included information showcasing each Farm and how to buy their products. It included information about the 4-H program and the Extension Service. Out of the 110 boxes sold 70 % where sold to people that were not involved in 4-H. The 4-H Farm to table box put $2052.62 in the pockets of our farmers and raised $ 2193.16 dollars for our 4-H Council to support 4-H Youth in projects.
