Plan of Work: Adult and Youth Leadership

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

It is hard enough during the cold winter months and Holiday season to not get blue and depressed. Add to that the Covid 19 outbreak and many people in the community develop depression.

The Carroll County Homemakers decided to do a community service project to reach some of the elderly seniors and shut ins. The homemakers partnered with a men's home, an assisted living facility, Senior Center and two nursing homes, reaching over 260 individuals.

Several of the homemakers met, using Covid-19 safety practices, and made handmade ornaments, tray/table decorations, filled holiday mugs, made treat bags, and signed Christmas cards to give to the residents in the five facilities.

The residents were very appreciative of the thoughtfulness.

Not only did it bring a moment of happiness to the residents, it also fulfilled a need of the homemakers. They had the opportunity to get together for a few hours and enjoy each others friendship. It also allowed them to think about someone else and gave them a sense of purpose.  Several of the Homemakers said how nice it was to have fellowship and how it lifted there spirits.
