When our schools opted early on to have no visitors in the building, we decided to video each segment of Employment 101 and to provide it virtually for my contact teacher to use. Through a series of eight videos, students were taught how to fill out a job application, how to create a resume, and how to prepare for and conduct themselves during a job interview.
100 8th grade students went through our virtual Employment 101. A written evaluation conducted at the end of the program revealed that 92% of the students now know the information needed to properly fill out a job application, 65% are more confident in their abilities to handle a job interview, and 90% indicated they were better equipped to handle the ordeal that job hunting can be.
The contact teacher also gave the following as to the effectiveness of the program. “I have had seven students from last year’s program let me know they have secured their first job and attribute their success to Employment 101.”
