With the odd season that 2020 was, a community garden was ran by one of the Extension volunteers. The garden area was located at the Cumberland County Extension Office. During peak season the garden was filled with potatoes. These were given away at the local food pantry. Approximately, seventy-five pounds were handed out at the pantry. During the fall, the volunteer planted cole crops of mixed greens. Once the plants came up and were ready to harvest the plot was open to the public to come pick what they wanted of the greens. Many individuals and families took advantage of this opportunity to have fresh greens during the fall months. This is definitely something that the office will more than likely take advantage of again in future growing seasons.
