Buying a lawn mower is a large investment and can be confusing as to what type of mower will fit the homeowners needs the best. One Crittenden County land owner asked ANR Agent Heimgartner about the best option for her small farm property. The landowner is a senior but her son and grandson also help mow and were interested in a zero turn mower. The client was hesitant to go that option because she was concerned about using the mower herself with shoulder and hip issues. Heimgartner discussed the pros and cons of different mower types and sizes with the client. The client was still concerned about spending money on a mower she was afraid that she couldn't handle. Heimgartner asked the client if she would feel more comfortable after trying a zero turn mower out on her yard, the client said she would. Heimgartner brought her own personal mower to the client's house to demonstrate how to use a zero turn mower safely. The client was able to drive and use the mower in her own yard which was a comfortable environment for her and not have a sales person pushing for a sale. The client felt comfortable with the zero turn and the larger deck size of 60 inches compared to her current lawn tractor size of 32 inches. After using Heimgartner' s mower the client was ready to make a decision on what type and size of mower she should purchase. The client bought a larger deck zero turn mower and is satisfied with how easily she can use the mower and how much time she is saving by having a larger mowing deck.
