Major Program: Nutrition and Food Systems General

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Christian County SNAP-Ed assistant contributed to her county in many ways.

Over 8,200 helpful handouts about the virus, handwashing, children’s activities, nutritional information and recipes were passed out at food distribution centers, school lunch programs, grocery stores, and the local Veteran’s center. This information was also shared with clients via emails and mailings.

The assistant also kept up her Healthy Choices for Every Body classes via zoom to provide normalcy and information as well as a friendly face to as many clients as possible. She had several groups that partook in the lessons including a women’s recovery rehabilitation center and an adult comprehensive center. The zoom classes included live cooking demos and fun interactive activities. She was able to graduate 35 current clients as well as gain 20 new clients.

In addition, the assistant provided health information via her county’s Nutrition Education Program Facebook page to help established clients and to interest new people. She also made videos demonstrating how to cook some of the Nutrition Education Program’s healthy and economical recipes. Some of the videos reached 370+ viewers and had 90+ engagements.
