During the COVID 19 pandemic, many individuals in Warren County faced food insecurity. Feeding America Kentucky’s Hartland stated that Kentucky County had a 40% increase in food insecurity. In an effort to help fight hunger, the Warren County SNAP Education Assistant collaborated with the Warren County Public Library to offer seeds for their seed catalog. This campaign was inspired to help people grow their own food and cut down on cost at the grocery store. The Warren County Snap Education Assistant taught a variety of gardening and nutrition classes to Warren County resident’s virtually through the Library’s Facebook Page. In fact, 450 families received seeds, gardening recipes, and nutrition publications.  From the information received 100% of participants improved diet quality by eating more fruits and vegetables.
