During this Covid 19 pandemic I found a way to still keep in touch with my families while I was still able to keep socially distant and taking all percautions for my health and the health of the families. Garrard County has 1135 children enrolled in our School Systems, these children some of which live way out in the county are under served families. I devised a way to make contact with these families by creating healthy snack kits for the children in my county. I started working with the local Housing Authority, and the Food Pantry to get names of families with children. Each week I would make up 50 or so kits and go to these places and deliver to the kids that cannot come into town on a regular basis. I went to where the schools had buses parked out in the county and gave these out, I would go to the Public housing and deliver snacks there, I took kits to each of the schools and passed them out while they waited for the lunches to be given out. I had many great moments with the children, they would make the recipe and send pictures to me of their finished products. I was able to maintain my presence in my community while serving my families.
