During a global pandemic, when in person meetings were not possible and the Jackson County Extension Service was closed to the public, the Jackson County Agriculture Agent and the Jackson County 4H agent worked collaboratively with each other, staff assistants, SNAP assistants, UK Specialists, The Jackson County Agriculture Teacher, KY Fish and Wildlife, and other community partners to create a social media presence to reach clientele. This was done through videos and media created by agents and edited by staff assistants. The videos were posted to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The videos were also promoted by the local TV station, airing multiple times. There were 23 agent created videos that had content about cooking, 4H activities, and agriculture practices. There were also 31 informational and infographic posts with University of Kentucky publications and information listed. The informational posts reached a total of 33,378 people while the videos reached a total of 131,669 people, making the total people reached during this time 165,047 people. The agents found a new revenue of bringing educational information to clients and producers throughout the area that taught them everything from how to filet a fish to how to repair cattle winter feeding areas. The outcomes from the information dispersed was increasing producer profits, creating a healthier community, and educating youth.
