Grab N Go Bags

Major Program: Promoting Healthy Homes and Communities (general)

Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work

Outcome: Initial Outcome

During the time of the COVID 19 pandemic, schools went to online learning, offices closed, and businesses shut down. With everyone being quarantined at home, the Lee County Extension Office used this opportunity as a unique approach of programming. With a team effort from the office, each member played an important role in preparing our new programming method, Grab-N-Go bags.

The items within the Grab-N-Go bags varies week to week. Each bag has its own theme and the items inside correspond to said theme. There will be a hands on activity, educational materials, and a recipe.

To insure that the CDC guidelines are being followed, the office devised a plan to make it the safest for everyone involved. Participants call and register their child/ren for the bags and when it is time for the bags to be picked up, they drive around to the back of the Extension Office where they come to a table. One of the office staff members will take their name and gather their bag/s, and take them to the car for them. Masks are worn by all employees and hand sanitizer is at the table to properly sanitize between each person.

These bags have been a great way to keep families cheerful during this dark time. Parents are encouraged to post pictures of their child/ren participating in the bag activities. Since the Grab-N-Go bags started, the Lee County Extension Office has collected new clientele for future programming.
