Development and Execution of First KATS Advisory Committee Meeting

Author: Teresa Rogers

Planning Unit: Plant and Soil Sciences

Major Program: Grain Crops

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

The Kentucky Agriculture Training School first evolved in 2016 as a program to provide up to date hands-on trainings to small groups of consultants, county agents, industry representatives, and producers. The program has grown and has room to continue to grow and improve.  In order for this program to reach its full potential, it was decided that we should develop an Advisory Committee to help steer the program in the direction that is needed.  We developed a list of potential committee members that would represent all aspects of the agriculture community, that would provide insight to help strengthen the KATS program.   I sent out information about the program with an invitation to the 36 selected individuals to attend the meeting on January 23, 2020.  We had 16 of those invited attend, plus 11 Planning Committee members from UKREC. We developed an agenda of key topics that we felt needing addressed, and successfully discussed them all of them to make plans for the upcoming year and future years.
