This agent worked with Dr. Chris Teutsch, Extension Forage Specialist to conduct a forage tour highlighting utilization of current and potential forage crops. Twenty Three producers attended the tour where they gained knowledge on utilizing endophyte friendly fescue, annual ryegrass, crabgrass, and wheat. Although the cooperating farmer on the tour had initially decided to destroy some species and replant new; he changed his mind after learning about the utilization of what he had. The farmer commented " I just saved $4,000 by not destroying the volunteer wheat and planting this field in endophyte friendly fescue too." The farmer also decided to not kill his kentucky 31 fescue and native crabgrass and replant orchardgrass. Instead he planted annual rye grass so that he can graze it in the spring and the crabgrass in the summer. Two other farmers utilized the information they gained from the tour and no till planted orchardgrass and endophyte friendly fescue.
