Livestock production remains a major agriculture enterprise in Caldwell County. The Caldwell/Lyon Cattlemen's Association is a dedicated group of producers that not only promotes and supports the livestock industry but is recognized as a leading civic organization in Caldwell County. They provide catering services for county educational and civic events, sponsor educational programs, mentor young cattle producers, provide multiple scholarships to youth in Caldwell and Lyon County, and administer the Phase I Tobacco Settlement (CAIP, Youth CAIP) funds in Caldwell County. The agriculture and natural resources agent acts as an advisor and facilitator to support all activities of the association. The agent helps in insure that each meeting has a valuable educational component that will benefit all members present. In 2019 alone, the Caldwell/Lyon Cattlemen's Association contributed $4,000 in scholarships and over $200,000 in cost share improvement dollars to the agriculture economy of Caldwell County. Community leadership, advancing animal genetics, farm infrastructure improvements, financial security, healthy, and sustainable production of livestock in Caldwell and Lyon County are just a few of the initiatives that make the Caldwell/Lyon Cattlemen's Association a vital organization.
