Time together as a family was hard to find before the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has given families a blessing in disguise as they now are spending a lot of time together. During the healthy at home period, many holidays passed including St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and even Mother’s and Father’s Day. In an effort to support families during Mother’s and Father’s Day, the Mason County FCS Agent put together Programs On The Go to promote family time at home. The Mother’s Day bags included a cookie dough mix, icing, cookie cutters, a card, and publications from the specialist on Family Vitality. The Father’s Day bags included a muffin mix, muffin liners, a small woodworking craft, and publications from the specialist on Family Vitality. 30 of each bag were placed outside the Mason County Extension Office the week before the respective holiday. These bags were well received within the community and as a whole reached 60 families. With the information from the publications and the time spent together as a family doing hands on activities in and out of the kitchen, there is hope that families will understand the importance of and continue spending quality time together even after the pandemic has ended.
