Social media has become a predominate method of information transfer in today’ fast paced world of handheld technology.   This includes the agriculture world in which farmer use their smart phones and tablets on a regular basis to find timely and concise information about their livelihood.   While the use of social media is great for timely information, the scientific world can struggle due to the limitations of social media in which depth and detail of information can be lacking.

To meet the needs of the farmers for quick and concise information over social media Travis Legleiter began posting videos on Twitter beginning in March of 2020.  The videos were simply recorded on a phone using a stabilizing gimbal and lapel microphone to increase the video quality.   Videos included timely information about weed control, herbicide crop injury, and research updated using both weed science research plots and farmers’ fields as backdrops.   Eight twitter videos meeting the 2:20 maximum length were posted between March 30th and June 30th when the majority of weed issues in Kentucky agronomic crops occurs.  The eight videos had received 6,400 views and total of 1850 minutes had been watched at the time of reporting.
