Healthy Bladder Habits Might Help You is a state KEHA lesson.  The Franklin Co. FCS agent taught this lesson to twenty-five women who would in turn teach the lesson in their respective clubs throughout the Fort Harrod area.

Fifty percent of women will experience urinary incontinence although they may not discuss this issue with their doctor due to embarrassment or that such experience is normal. The problem may impact their lives emotionally, socially, physically, and psychologically.  The lesson on developing healthier bladder strategies may help improve minor issues and strengthen muscles.

The lesson used a myriad of learning methods to address the issue of IU beginning with a basic understanding of bladder anatomy, the effect of foods and beverages, pelvic floor exercises and personal testimony, and when to seek help.  In addition, the women were able to compare products that are currently available.

Ninety percent of those attending had experienced UI at one time or another. Most of the affected had not utilized pelvic floor exercises. They found the video examples very helpful. A major outcome for the lesson was that women felt more comfortable discussing UI with their peers. All in attendance looked forward to teaching their club members.
