Outcome: Initial Outcome

For many years the Edmonson County Soil Conservation Office has given away hundreds of tree seedlings to Edmonson County Residents. Current events caused the 2020 tree seedling giveaway to be canceled. The Edmonson County FCS Agent and ANR Agent partnered with the Soil Conservation for a tree seedling giveaway in a different way in May 2020. The FCS Agent developed an online event where Edmonson County residents could request a bundle of tree seedlings. The bundle included Red Bud, White Oak, Hickory,  Sugar Maple, two Pecans and three White Pines. In addition to tree seedlings families received information on how to properly plant and take care of their seedlings.

Ninety five families requested trees. The ANR Agent and the Soil Conservation Office worked together to package the trees.  The FCS Agent, ANR Agent, and Office Support staff delivered the trees to each home leaving the trees at an indicated location such as the mail box. Verbal and social media follow ups indicated that 80% of families planted their trees resulting In at least 684 trees being planted in Edmonson County.
