The purpose of the Meade County Ag Field Day is to educate farmers and landowners on improved agricultural practices that are economically safe to the environment.  Meade County has a tradition of holding a field day on a local farm and producers expect the Extension Office to implement it. For many years now the Meade County Extension Office collaborates with the Meade County Conservation District and the Natural Resource and Conservation Service to plan and host an Ag Field Day every other year. Planning started in October for our August Field Day. A six member committee has met three times an has made two farm visits during the planning process. A demonstration started in the spring for visible results by field day. Five tour stops, four on production Ag; Animal Reproduction, Technology in Ag, soybean fungicide use, using EPD's in bull selection: one on-land conservation on the importance of soil health. After lunch all participants heard an update on hemp production and the market outlook for hemp. Written evaluations indicated that 91% of the participant learned at least two practice change that they are going to implement in their own farming operation. One hundred forty-three people attended.
