COVID-19 brought many changes and opportunites to reach out in many different ways to help people in the community. Face coverings and Facemaskes has been a focus for both individuals and businesses. One local industry reached out to the extension service for assistance in creating masks for thier employees. The company's reseach team investigated specific materials for use in the chemical company. They provided all the materials needed along with a specific pattern and directions on creation. Under the direction of the FCS agent and through the dedication of the Meade County Extension Homemakers, 213 masks were created for the Monument Chemical Company. We anticipate an additional 32 masks will be completed by the end of July.
Extension Homemaker members have also made hundreds of masks for community members, family members and one has a cottage industry making masks to sell to local dry cleaners.
