Plan of Work: Enhancement of Beef Production
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
The Kentucky Heartland Master Cattlemen Program has had another successful year with 26 registered participants. The Cooperative Extension Services of LaRue, Hardin, and Meade Counties worked with UK Specialists to offer the Master Cattlemen Course to our producers to assist the cattle producers in our area with their operation. A total of 26 producers signed up and attended the Master Cattlemen Course offered. As a result of attending the program, 100% of the participants reported a gain of knowledge in costs of production, enterprise budgeting, and winter feeding. 94% of the participants gained knowledge in setting priorities. Over 60% of those attending said that they would participate in any Applied Master Cattlemen programs offered in the future. Chris Robertson, a LaRue County beef producer stated, "I've had beef cattle for 30 years and learned things that will make me a more profitable beef producer. I've shared a lot of the things I've learned through the Master Cattlemen Program with my siblings who also raise beef cattle."
