Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Building awareness of a new program can be difficult. Over the last several months, I have been partner building in our new SNAP-Ed area. One of the partnerships that has flourished is with our area school systems, primarily through the Family Resources Officers. In October, SNAP-Ed provided food safety classes to family with children participating in the Born Learning program in two counties (three locations). This program is focused on at risk, young families that struggle with providing readiness for their children entering preschool and kindergarten. I was able to present the program on food safety with the parents, as well as offer a list of community partners that offer additional services that they may need. The parents were then able to make a healthy snack with their children and spend some time trying new fruits. Due to these events, we have been invited to offer ongoing nutrition classes in five elementary school locations in Anderson and Montgomery Counties.
