Adult How To was created to teach basic life skills programming to adults. This program is offered for free at the Boyle County Public Library. The series is held monthly with topics ranging from car maintenance, basic tools and budgeting skills to green cleaning, time management, and decluttering.
This program is a great opportinity for hands on learning. It's held in the evening to accommodate schedules. Occasionally, the FCS Agent would call in expert guest speakers to share knowledge on specific topics such as gun safety and self defense.
THe most successful class in the series was the car stuff class. This class helps cover basic knowledge for any car owner or operator. Oil change, dashboard lights, tire pressure are all things covered in this class. There were a variety of ages of people who attended the class. Several were mother and daughter combos. 100% of participants reported learning several things they didn't know and some they know better now.
The FCS Agent plans on offering this class annually.
