Outcome: Initial Outcome

Clinton County 4-Hers had a unique opportunity this summer for employment.  Clinton County got a new boat ramp called Rowena Marina.  The management at Rowena reach out to the local extension office for help locating honest and hardworking young people that would like to work this summer.  I was pleased that they felt like they could call on Clinton County's 4-H Youth Development for help.  I met with the Rowena Marina dock management and restaurant management one a Saturday to discuss possible options for 4-Hers looking for summer jobs.  I was pleased to be able to help identify 4-Hers that had displayed good work ethic and that I felt ability to maintain a summer position at the dock.  I was given applications for both sides of the dock to bring to my office and give out as 4-Hers came by the office.  In rural counties it is sometimes hard for young people to find gainful employment. I am pleased to announce that 14 young 4-Hers recieved a summer job at Rowena Marina that learned how to deal with the public, which increased socail skills, and took on leadership roles on the gas dock or the ice cream stand which has helped develop leadership skills and the ability to deal with the public in a serving manner.  I am very proud of you 4-Hers and their ability to be able to find gainful empolyment for the summer and hopefully they can work there for summers to come.
