Master Gardeners Help with New Youth Club

Author: Bethany Wilson

Planning Unit: Pulaski County CES

Major Program: Community Leadership Development

Plan of Work: Leadership and Communication Skills Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Part of being a Master Gardener is providing leadership and volunteerism to the local community.

Two Advanced Master Gardeners took on the task of training and preparing monthly programs for the new 4H Horticulture and Judging Team.

The Master Gardeners prepared all monthly activities for the kids who were to participate in the contest.  Games, mock tests, and fun activities were conducted each time. They always made sure the kids were rewarded for their efforts and had a healthy snack at each meeting.. Overall, about 6 Master Gardeners took part in the different trainings throughout the year.

Three youth participated in the Horticulture Contest at the 2019 Kentucky State Fair in August 2019. This is the first time Pulaski County had entered a team in the contest at the Kentucky State Fair. A blue, red, and white ribbon were awarded to our kids.
