Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
As Covid-19 put everyone in a different “new normal”, kids were home, restaurants were closed, grocery store shelves of ready-made foods were empty (not to mention the toilet paper situation!) and we had to cook. To help make this task healthy and easy, the Mason County EFNEP assistant started a weekly video series of healthy meals and snacks. Using recipes from the Healthy Choices for Every Body curriculum, NEP calendars, and Plan Eat Move website, a different recipe was demonstrated and posted for online viewing on Face Book every Friday. Cooking tips were also shared in the video, such as the proper way to peel an orange, how to measure accurately, the correct way to crack an egg, along with food safety information. The videos were being viewed, shared and receiving feedback. One viewer shared a picture of her making one of the demonstrated recipes. Another stated “I love this recipe! (Colorful Quesadilla) Simple and easy to do! Thank you for sharing.” Twelve videos were made and shared on Face Book reaching over 12, 800 people as of June 30, 2020.
