Plan of Work: Managing Resources Wisely

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Kentucky State University’s Small Farm Program and Beginning Farmer Project, in collaboration with the University of Kentucky and Kentucky Highlands of London, KY, worked together to provide a virtual zoom class on May 12, 2020. , This virtual zoom meeting taught web design with Ken Bates, Sandra Birch (KSU specialists), and Shelton Ansley of Kentucky Highlands. 14 Stakeholders participated with 10 signing up to continue with the additional classes to receive from Go Daddy for two years, at no charge, the following:  One domain name, One hosting account, Search engine optimization, and E-mail marketing.

This package valued at  $600 to $1000 per web page, depending on the course completion. The amount of time required is 3 hours or less. There is a potential earning right now of $6,000 to $10,000 saved, by KSU, for offering this course to this group.  Bates brought out the package includes e-commerce.

Farmers Markets research shows people buy 1/3 more produce due to having the use of e-Commerce. Therefore upon completion, ten participates have the potential to sell up to 1/3 more products. Also, with COVID 19, some farmer markets in KY have to go to online sales to provide the product needed by the public in a safe and social distancing environment, as required now for health reasons. Through this e-Commerce, the stakeholders have the potential to offer this.
