Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

During the covid 19 pandemic a new beef cattle farmer with approximately 10 head of cattle called and said he had a heifer cow having a calf and it was hung at the hips in the heifer. He had never had experience in delivering a calf from a cow. He told me he had tried pulling the calf with no success and nothing was working. I asked him how he was pulling the calf and he said straight back. I told him to pull the calf down toward the cows feet and give me a call back if that doesn't work.

The nearest veterinarian is approximately 40 miles away and doesn't do many farm visit unless you are his client.

The cost for the vet to come would be approximately $500.00.

The farmer called back and told me when he pulled down toward the cows feet the calf came out easy. He was grateful that I answered my phone and taught him how to pull the calf out the remainder of the way.

The training I've had through UK Master Cattleman Program,  KSU and UK Extension allowed me to give the beginning farmer knowledge on how to deliverable a calf.
