Plan of Work: Small Business Development
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Butler county leadership continues to identify entrepreneurship and economic development as important areas for cooperative extension service programming. Greg Drake II and Butler County’s Entrepreneurial Coaching team continue to support entrepreneurship. The county entrepreneurial coaching team has now coached thirty businesses. The coaches use materials developed by UK extension specialist and agents to assist potential business owners. The entrepreneurial coaching team operates the Morgantown/Butler County small business incubator program, and provides the entrepreneurial coaching service for the City of Morgantown. The incubator program helps individuals start small businesses. The incubator program offers entrepreneurial coaching, assistance with the costs associated with getting the business open, rent assistance, and additional support for the business owner. This year North Side Kennels and Hebrews coffee have opened for business in Morgantown. CCC Pawn is a successful incubator project. This year they have expanded by purchasing a larger retail building and expanding their services to the community. Several businesses coached by the entrepreneurship team continue to operate and provide service to the community.
