Outcome: Initial Outcome
The Jessamine County Extension Homemaker Association worked together as an organization to make Christmas baskets for a local bank to support their scholarship fund. Thirty Homemaker members donated baked goods and their time to make the baskets. On average, the members spent three hours baking, packaging, and delivering their items to the extension office, which equaled 90 hours of volunteer time. The baskets were assembled at the Extension Office by a team of eight members. The Jessamine County Extension Homemakers made a total of 30 baskets for Farmer’s Bank in Nicholasville to give to their clientele. The bank gave the Homemakers $1,225 for the baskets. This fundraising opportunity supported their Homemaker Scholarship, which is rewarded to two high school seniors in Jessamine County. The Christmas baskets fundraiser provided the Homemakers the ability to increase their scholarship from two $350 scholarships to two $500 scholarships. By working together as an organization, the Jessamine County Extension Homemakers participated in a fundraising event that resulted in an increase in their scholarship amount to support the future of our community.
