Plan of Work: Strengthen Community, Leadership and Economic Development in Harlan County
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Since 4-H Awards are usually given during Honors Days for Seniors, we made our 9 Seniors 4-H Graduation in a Bag, containing their Honor Cords, 4-H token items, "College Stuff" Handouts, and a 4-H T-Shirt, We also made them a 4-H Facebook video, All 9 seniors have been admitted to the college of their choice. Two of our seniors will be attending University.of Kentucky, with one valedictorian receiving the prestigious Otis A. Singletary Scholarship. We encourage our 4-Hers to be leaders and provide Teen Conference opportunities to expose them to the campus of UK and to check out all UK has to offer program wise. Harlan County 4-H had two 4-H students graduate with bachelors degrees this year. We also had a graduate from the UK Medical School, and one from UK College of Dentistry. All 4 were very active in 4-H and had attended Teen Conferences. These 4 former 4-H'ers want to return to Harlan to work.
