Outcome: Initial Outcome
During the COVID 19 Pandemic organizations, business and schools across Kentucky closed or provided limited services. The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Offices were also closed during this time. To continue to provide educational resources and learning opportunities to clients UK Family and Consumer Sciences Extension hosted online information sessions on both Zoom and Facebook. Sessions were broadcast through the University of Kentucky Family and Consumer Sciences Facebook page, local County Extension Office Facebook pages and personal Facebook pages. The sessions provide were led by FCS Specialist and Agents focusing on relevant information relating to COVID 19, Health and Safety information and Nutrition information. On a county level the UK Cooperative Extension Staff began putting together packets for community members to pick up weekly. The packets were filled with activities and projects developed from researched based information relating to FCS, 4-H Youth Development and Agricultural and Natural Resources. I personally had the opportunity to assist with putting together FCS related packets in Ohio County. For six weeks, packets with information and activities for families and individuals of all ages relating to FCS were put out once a week for pick up. Each week 100 to 150 packets were made and distributed which provided an opportunity for the community to continue to utilize Cooperative Extension Services in a unique way during non-traditional circumstances. As the COVID 19 situation starts to decrease in severity FCS Extension will continue to find ways to adapt to any new rules or regulations caused by this Pandemic as well as provide traditional programming.
