The global pandemic of Covid-19 has hit the world, as well as the commonwealth, especially hard in the last few weeks. The Governor has restricted access to most locations throughout Kentucky that are labeled nonessential and has highly suggested those who could work from home do so. This means that people have shuffled their schedules and daily tasks immensely and are now either working remotely or not working at all. As the weeks pass, one of the challenges people are seeing is how to stay connected to the Extension Office, as well as having exciting things to do at home.

To help with this growing problem of how to educate and live healthy at home, the Bath County Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, with the assistance of the 4-H Youth Development Agent and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, as well as our SNAP-Ed Assistant, developed a "Program on the Go" program. Program on the Go allows residents of Bath County the opportunity to pick up lessons that interest them and complete them in the safety of their homes. The program includes several topics that allow for educational opportunities for various ages and stages of the life cycle, which include but are not limited to: How to Deal With Stress, Home Gardening, Brain Health, Family Literacy, Healthy Baking, Hobbies, and more.

There has been a great success in Bath County with this program. An average of 30 participants utilize the Programs on the Go each week, and many have stated they are enjoying all of the hands-on activities that are provided. Family time has increased, as well as sharpening one's minds through informal education. Most adult clientele enjoys the Healthy At Home newsletter that has gone out with each program and is happy to see how Cooperative Extension continues to adjust to the growing and emerging needs of the community.
