Technology may make our lives easier but it does not make them any less complicated. Doing things with your hands is good for you, holiday crafts are a way to come together with family and friends and honor the holidays by being together, sharing a laugh and creating something to add festivity to your home. This year we had a very successful turn out with 45 people in attendance, most of which were groups of family members. Grandparents, parents and children came, and most stayed to complete all of our craft options. One of the most remarkable details is that despite waiting in traffic for over an hour, due to a severe car accident, many attendees still came and stayed to complete crafts. There was communication, camaraderie and sharing of supplies between the different families and groups and many attendees expressed how our even helped to renew their lost holiday spirit. One person said they had recently lost a loved one and almost decided not to come but that they were so glad that they did come because seeing all the families enjoying themselves really helped lift their spirits and made it feel like Christmas again. Our craft night was a success because it allowed people to slow down and take time to enjoy each other’s company while creating something beautiful. Facilitating and leading activities that create a positive impact on the community not only meets our mission but it also helps to spread information about our services through word of mouth.
